Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails left his record label earlier this year in pursuit of releasing an album for his fans which would be released through the band’s website for free. The album was downloaded over a million times in the first few days of release. Also available was a copy to purchase that came with the physical cd and extra features, this would inevitably be the best selling album of 2008. The album Ghosts I-IV won a Grammy award a few short weeks ago showing a big record label or a deal to put the album on shelves at Wal-Mart doesn’t make it good music.

Amazon’s Best Selling Albums of 2008
