Rumors are swirling this evening that Good Morning America co-anchor Diane Sawyer was somewhat inebriated on television Wednesday morning after the Presidential Inauguration reporting from the nation’s capital. Video below shows Sawyer having trouble slurring her words, and somewhat slowed speech during several occasions.

You be the judge, was Sawyer tired from a long night of reporting or a long night of celebrating the new president? Diane Sawyer was named one of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list in Forbes Magazine.

Anna Hansen and Lance Armstrong Expecting a Child

December 24th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Celebrities, Health, Science, Sports

Colorado- Lance Armstrong and Anna Hansen announced on CNN today that they are expecting a naturally conceived child that is due in June. Lance was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1996. The cancer had spread to his brain, lungs, and abdomen before he completed treatment and was able to return to cycling (where he ultimately won seven consecutive Tour de France races).

The intense chemotherapy rendered him unable to naturally conceive children with previous wife Kristin Richards, but
there was no artificial fertilization processes used with the child that he is expecting with Anna Hansen.

This is great news for testicular cancer survivors, according to CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. It is evidence that his body was able to heal from all of the chemotherapy and surgery.

This very intricate semblance of a man’s facial profile was discovered in the form of an icicle hanging from Jeremy Olden’s home in Lake Stevens, Washington. It is hard to believe that this is actually real, but stranger things have happened. What do you think?

More Good News for the Common Man
New Study Confirms an Ancient Myth

It is no secret that alcohol reduces the ability to rate attractiveness in the opposite sex; it is a phenomenon that has long been the subject of  jokes, story lines, and even popular television commercials (a certain brand of body wash comes to mind).

But things just got alot more scientific…

According to online news site telegraph.co.uk, a new study indicates that the effects of alcohol negatively effect a woman’s ability to judge attracticeness of facial features of men (not surprisingly). What is surprising is that the effects of the alcohol consumption seem to last for an indefinite period of time after the effects of the alcohol have worn off.

In the study, sober women that happen to drink occasionally were less able to judge facial symmetry (and attractiveness) of males than women who do not drink at all. This is an incredible discovery, but there may, however, be one possibility that does not seem to be addressed in the findings; it could be that the particular women who drink in this study naturally just happen to be worse judges of facial symmetry than the particular non-drinking women that were used in the study.

Over 1000 Species of Bizarre Animals and Insects Discovered in Mekong Jungles

December 15th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Enviroment, Science

BANGKOK (FAN)— Scientists have now discovered more than 1,000 unique and rare animal and insect species in the jungles and landscape of the Mekong region of Southeast Asia (over the last decade). Discoveries have  included a spider with a leg span that is larger than a dinner plate , said the World Wildlife Fund on Monday.

Other discoveries include a rat that was previously believed to have been extinct for more than 10 million years and shockingly pink millipede that emits the deadly toxin cianide as a defense mechanism.

“It doesn’t get any better than this,” said Stuart Chapman, director of World WildLife Fund’s Greater Mekong Program.

“We thought discoveries of this scale were confined to the history books.”
